A Verification of Income report includes information given to The Work Number by employers: Employee Name, Employment Status, Most Recent Hire Date, Total Time with Employer, Position Title, plus the current year-to-date pay plus the most recent two (2) years of payroll data. Data is provided where available. General - What is included in the Verification of Income report?

Equifax receives new information directly from employers’ payroll systems typically on a per-pay-period basis – each time an employer runs payroll. Employers send the information in a secure, specified file format at specified time intervals. That information is instantly loaded into Equifax employment and income database, The Work Number. This helps ensure that current information, as provided by employers, is available to credentialed businesses that need help verifying employment for a mortgage, other type of lending, or other permissible purpose.

General - How often are the verification reports updated?

If an applicant’s information is not available through The Work Number, a manual verification can generally be obtained. Verification specialists independently confirm the employer’s information and follow up directly to obtain the verification on your behalf.
