New Login Process

Why is there a new login process?

For security enhancement purposes, the login process has changed. Users will log in with assigned username and password credentials.

When will you see changes on The Work Number?

Effective June 1st 2011, you will need to login with your username and password.

The username and password information will be sent from VerifierID@theworknumber.com. Please remember to white list this email address to ensure delivery and to avoid the emails being treated as "SPAM."

If you have not signed up for your username and password, you may need to complete a new agreement. If you have submitted an Express or standard agreement in the past 30 days, please do not resubmit a second application. This will only delay processing time.

Why are we moving to a new login standard and what are the benefits to you?

There are two highly important reasons and benefits for the implementation -- security and functionality.

Security

  • Allows webManagers (an organization’s administrator(s)) the ability to easily control who has access to The Work Number
  • Gives them the ability to see who is using The Work Number and for what purposes

Functionality

  • Provides the ability to designate one or more webManagers for each company
  • Gives webManagers have the ability to manage, add, or block users

Everyone in our office shares the same login information, how do we manage that?

You will no longer be able to share logins. You must have an individual username and password to continue to use The Work Number.

Will my pricing change?

This migration will not affect your pricing.

What about the order process—will that be different now?

Although The Work Number may look slightly different from what you are used to, placing an order will be very much the same as before. You may view a Demo or review a Tutorial posted to the site if you would like additional information. A link to these documents also are provided in your account set-up e-mail.

What if I forget my password?

You may use the "Forgot your password?" link to reset your password. You must have your username to do so.

What if I forget my username?

If you forget your username, you will need to contact your webManager to retrieve it. If you do not have a webManager, you may contact the Client Service Center.

My username is not being accepted. When I type in my e-mail address, I get a message saying that it is already in use. What do I do?

In a few cases, where an e-mail address may have been used before, you will need to choose a different username other than your e-mail address.

My password is not being accepted. Why not?

The password you create must have 12 or more characters and is case sensitive. Check to make sure your CAP LOCK key is not on and that you are entering your password exactly as you created it.

I am getting a message saying my account has been locked. What do I do?

Your account will lock after 5 failed login attempts. You can wait 30 minutes for your account to reset, or you may contact your webManager.

We do not have outside e-mail access at work. How do I get a login?

You may request to be set up with IVR (interactive voice response) access to The Work Number. To do so, both your username and password must be all numeric. To get this access, you will need to contact your webManager or the Client Service Center.

What is a webManager and how do I get that access?

A webManager has certain administrative rights for your organization or location, which include adding users, resetting passwords, and blocking users. You must be approved by an authorized manager in your organization to become a webManager.

I am a standard client, but when I try to get a username and password, I keep getting directed to the Express site. Why?

If your organization is an apartment complex, you must register for Express service. Standard service is no longer available for apartments.
